Community Norms

Here are guidelines that we think are crucial for the successful inclusion of as many people as possible and to ensure this project continues for many, many generations.

BUILDING COMMUNITY

Here are norms that we stick to in order to relate to each other in a healthy way, as we work on this project and steward it towards future generations.

  • We believe the ideal form of government is one where the resources of the earth are used to meet the needs of ALL human beings. Right now, we don't know how that happens, but this is why we dream... and record our dreams. The whole point is this project is to hear as many perspectives as possible about achieving this goal.

  • We believe that we will do the best work when everyone is supported with how they want to participate. accommodations and predictable accessibility are crucial

    • Spectators (can sit in on meetings [on camera] and can vote on general issue [depends on how many people ballots), meeting participants (actively participate in meetings, video optional, project participants)

  • Although we dream together of a future that is possible and meets everyone's needs, the reality we live in does not meet the needs of people involved. We will all have scars from needs not being met. Our behavior at times will originate from needs that were not met, and we all deserve grace in those moments, as well as we all need to take responsibilities for our actions and for recognizing our past physical and mental scars we need to heal from.

  • Just because we collaborate on this project and know each other through the meetings, does not mean those relationships constitute friendships. Of course we want to be friends, but forming those relationships will require a lot more attention and cultivation outside of the work we do for HCP.

  • This is not a place used to find dates. This doesn't mean we can find really important people through this work, that we eventually date. It means that this is not a primary purpose to participating.

  • We recognize that we need to support people appropriately for the work they do in this work

  • transparency about intentions to work in this project. WE state our intentions often and update them as they change as we grow personally and as an organization.

  • We will support people as best as our resources allow for personal growth and transformation

  • When hurt and harm happens, we will always look to support all parties involved (those involved directly and indirectly. We will look to always find out as much info about any incident to be clear about who is responsible for what. This includes ensuring the community as a group, recognizes and works to improve any group norms or practices to reduce the changes of this type of incident repeating in the future.
